Hey Haunz, what you wrote about jogging helping you to keep your sanity...
I can absolutely feel it. I hate jogging more than any other activity, and I'm not into sports too much.
But since I got my longboard, a lot changed.
I've been down some pretty dark and self-destructive track lately (probably because I don't have my music to let off steam), but
when I get on my board, I can stop all my thoughts and just breathe clean air.
I climb up the hill, get rolling, I get a certain rhythm, it's night and the only sound is my steady carving from left to right, then I crouch and put a knee on the board and just roll.
I go rolling for several hours every day.
Not only does it clear my head, I'm also getting fitter and fitter. It's easier to get up in the morning and I'm quickly losing weight (one hole in my belt to be exact Laughing ).
I guess it's important for everyone to have their own meditative activity.
What's yours?

glad to hear you found something stones Wink

as you know i'm mainly into jogging, there are some key things i love about it:

first, it's outside, with fresh air, grassland, snow, stones, wood, nature - and i'm in contact with it; the fact that i simply get out of my room/house makes me also see things from a different perspective; in that sense it helps me to prevent actually losing perspective; i listen to music thereby and focus on what is really important to me

second, i don't need much equipment for it and i can do it almost anywhere, anytime; that really makes me feel free in some sense

third, it's endurance sports; my health is not exactly great and feel that pretty quickly but i, of course, always force myself to run a little bit further or more often, that also really helps to keep my mind in shape, keep focused, disciplined and determined

i don't know if that makes any sense to anyone else but me Laughing

however, it works for me!

Walking is actually more beneficial if you clip at a healthy pace for 20-30 minutes each day. It's great for the old rock n roll bones too..and the organs don't jostle about as much...and shin splints and stress fractures are less...

Had a nice 4 mile run this morning. Healed the mind and I felt strong. I needed to recharge for sure.

Now - off to the brewery for the monthly free tasting! drunk

Megadeth works good for me too...right now my brain is stuck in instant replay and I've listened to the same cd four times already this morning.

Here's one that may help someone relax.... Square Breathing.

Inhale, slowly count to 4 as you continue to inhale
Hold Breath, as you slowly count to 4
Exhale, slow count to 4 as you continue to exhale

Repeat 4 times....works if can remember to do it Wink
