Agreed, as good as 2009 has been - movies are coming full circle. There's been some really smart movies made in the last decade, with more of a nod to realism and gritty entertainment than the usual sentimentalist codswollop written for the mentally challenged.

I'm such a movie whore I have to admit it warms my lady bits to think the movies are being restored to us as genuine entertainment and they are ridding us of that drippy, adolescent eye candy that had been clogging the silver screen until so very recently

Yeah I throw that DVD in about 2x a year (Harry Hamlin - young version - oooooo). Of course Alice (org. Disney ver) goes in alot too.

I don't have much hope for Clash of the Titans however, the trailer looks like the movie company wants to please kids and adults and that just never works … either make Harry Potter or 300 … don't confuse those

How to Train Your Dragon, Daybreakers, Alice in Wonderland, Shrek and Iron Man 2 all look quite cool though!

Yes. Read the book then avoid the movie.

No Country For Old Men however is an excellent adaption. If you have yet to read that book or watch the movie, do both, in any order.

Except for Shining, I think every single movie was incredibly corny.
Some where entertaining, but still corny, like The Green Mile.
Dreamcatcher starts off tremendously, but once you see the Alien, it's all downhill.

I guess that's generally a problem about novel adaptations.
In your own imagination, visuals don't get corny, but once someone actually paints that picture, corniness is lurking just around the corner

Carrie. Firestarter. The Mist. Maxium Overdrive. Desperation - the Cop was perfect! Stand By Me. and though not in bookform - Creep Show, Cats Eye, Sleepwalkers. Golden Years and what was that? Mercy Hospital TV series...

I always hate that the people who are cast in the movie (after a book) are not what youd hope. My big one that was a huge let down was IT - my fav - on film it blows and the clown is a let down and the Stand was shot to shit on film. 1408 coulda been better. Cujo - why didn't they kill the kid in the movie too? Tommyknockers - meh. Needful Things - meh.

OH SHIT - how bout SALEMS LOT!!!!! The floating kid? the blue guy?!!! That was a good one.


ol' Steve's been real busy the last 30 years huh? When they fuck up The Dark Tower series I'm gonna be one mad muthafucker!!! Comic book series is wonderful though - real "where was Jesus in his missing years" type of stuff. Art work is fantastic.
