Yay, bats! Actually, the German name for bat is Fledermaus ("flapping mouse" or something). I just checked them on the net and apparently, they are close relatives of moles and hedgehogs.

You boys are mean! When I enter this thread, I have to close my eyes and spin the mouse dial like mad to get down past the offending pics. (i really can't even look at them).
ANYWAY. I have to brag. I made homemade jelly yesterday! From the plum tree I planted myself! And the jelly set! And all the jars "plinked" to let me know they sealed! I've feeling very frontier-womanish (as I type on a computer and instantly post a message for my buddies around the world to read.)

If you're not already - get the outdoor canning station going on your deck - then you can feel even more frontier-ish. . . . and how good does that feel to make it from something you planted and grew yourself

it really is a nice feeling. I also grew tomatoes, eggplant, peppers, okra (OMG-the okra. i was overrun!), 5 limes, 3 strawberries (damn birds get to them before I do), spices and I have about 50 figs on the tree, but so far only 2 have ripened up. I'm not sure if they'll mature before the first cold snap gets them. It's fun!

Big ol' shout out to Dakota!
Finally got the CD you mailed up and running on something that can play it all and am enjoying the shit outta it
whooo hoooo
BTW ... QoR - do you know how figs are made, grown? And what in the center of every fig that's ever existed? There's a reasone why I perfer dates over figs and won't touch them.
Fig wasps. Unless you have a self pollinating fig tree - these little buggers are the sole source of pollination and they stay in the fruit....it's too gross - look up some stuff your self if your interested or don't if you want to continue to enjoy figs. Quote:"In figs of this sort (that need the help), the crunchy bits in the fruit contain both seeds and wasps. However, there are several commercial and ornamental varieties of fig that are self-fertile and do not require pollination; these varieties are not visited by fig wasps."

the only thing worse than what americans think of germans is what germans think of austrians.
nah, they just had a t-shirt with »more german than german« on the back.
i was glad that not a single person yesterday thought that this was anything else than satire though. only goth/industrial people there. i was literally the only person with a white t-shirt. actually i was the only person without makeup, cuttings and piercings all over. haha, awesome!

I really like this - the wattage truly tr00ly hates this kind of stuff, wanna see someone sink into fetal position and scream?
. . . let me digress - reminds me of sitting around getting wasted back in the mid 80s and listening to Skinny Puppy Think - Robert Smith meets Trent Reznor with a touch of Flock of Seagulls.
Not sure when this is from - must be newer; never seen them with an actual band - was always just machines. ?
he always covered in blood - must be a trademark thing. Just a casual fan, can't tell ya nothing about it.

The absolute best part is "EINS ZWEI DREI SUPAAAAH". Hilarious. Next time you go to a gothic type thing, wear a Hula shirt and a lei (you know, those Hawaiian flower girdles) and request Beach Boys tunes, that's even better (a friend of mine did that once at a Gothic dance thing. The DJ ignored him alltogether)

Hey Stoney. Speaking of Germans.... Last night I learned that my friend's dad lives in Trier. I knew he lived in Germany and she hadn't seen him in ages, but never thought to ask what town. His name is Ferdinand and he is short and is a candle-maker. Do you know him??
