The knee is totally fine as long as I'm concentrated and my muscles do their work. But a wrong step gives you the feeling it's thanksgiving and you are the turkey and someone's tearing that leg off

Can't you get a hinged brace like this to help out until the surgery?

Yeah, makes sense. But I'd have to buy that right now (and they are pretty costy), whereas after the surgery, I get it for free.
It's 8 weeks in a completely stiff thingy and then 4 weeks in this contraption.
Also, I'm supposed to train my muscles as much as possible until surgery and apparently not wear anything, dunno. It's not long till the 14th anymore.

Yeah, they're not cheap. I thought maybe the hospital would give you one now to minimize the chance of doing more damage before the surgery.

Maybe they would, but it's so hard even getting an appointment, and it's in another city on top
I might see if my brother can help me, he is an orthopedic shoemaker. He can at least get me one of those soft ones..

I just hate the premature Christmas panic.
My flatmate and my neighbor's boyfriend both eat Christmas cookies (spekulatius) all year long, so my neighbor and I christened them "Christmas fascists"
Actually, I ate a whole pack of spekulatius in October, but I'm never gonna tell them

Went to the specialist today, and it turns out my knee is a worst case scenario.
The posterior cruciate ligament is completely ruptured, the meniscus is fuck all over the place but not between the bones anymore, there are bone splinters and the lower lef is displced to the back by a whole centimeter. Tomorrow I'll get my appointed day for surgery. They'll cut away from the ligaments that are still working and make a new PCl out of that, then fix it with screws.
Then: 6 solid weeks of traction bandage of the left left leg, it'll be compeltely stiff 24/7...then another 2 months of crutches. That's just fucked up.

Wow. I can't believe you've gone all these weeks with it in such bad shape. The recovery period sounds dreadful, but hopefully the surgery will provide relief and will allow you to return to the board eventually??

Thanx everyone. Damn straight I will return to my board. Maybe no more sliding, but I'm 100% sure I'll be back to downhill and cruising.
I guess it's back to zero though, but the main thing is to get back rolling. not being able to longboard makes me realize even more how much I love it.
